Earth Mother

I prefer the "Empress" card in my own deck, but I like this description. If I change around some of the answers where I was torn I could also be "Judgement" "World" or (gulp) "The Tower". Though I can see why the tower: my life has often involved radical changes in my thinking and tearing down of old structures to allow for growth. I think I am doing better now that I try not to build so much structure around my beliefs. I try to be open to what comes, not bound by expectation. It's a difficult change to make, we are taught to form expectations about everything.

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

You are The Hermit.

The Hermit points to all things hidden, such as knowledge and inspiration, hidden enemies. The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.

The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude.

You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

Alas. All the tests I take lately seem to tell me I am A Good Listener. Yours sounds more glamorous... you get Luxury and Delight, and I get Sitting at Home and Thinking!

Hey, Hermit is a great card. He often shows up to tell me what I should be doing more of: introspection.

I hardly know anything about the Tarot - except what figures in a strange verse by the French poet Nerval, which I studied at university (there's a translation of it here.

The cards seem like characters from a story I don't know...

Oh, and have you seen this? (Found via Neil Gaiman's website - I have a stupidly retentive memory for this kind of thing!)

I think I should have got the Hermit as well, but instead I received: "The Wheel of Fortune"

I would have preferred the "Press Your Luck" card. Big money, no whammies!

Dude, you get to be the card that is also a game show!

Better that than to have pulled "The Fool" (or The Tower).
